2010 Update!
Well we have finally got a race schedule. Its fair to say never has it been so difficult, with dates and venues previously offered and agreed being pulled, by the organising club or circuits. Primarily I suspect due to Donington being ditched, and other high profile events/bigger clubs then searching for dates. It’s the problem being bottom of the food chain. But though we may not have the venues we ideally wanted at least we have a full race programme which looked unlikely at one point. One bonus is that Lyden Hill is a televised event.
REGULATIONS for all the series tech wise are pretty well the same as in 2009, all the sites should carry the current regs if my IT man has done his bit this week. My fault not his. But a couple of points to mention is the Subaru Cup is no longer a class within the Nippon now going its own way being replaced by the MR2 Turbo Cup and Junior Gt. These will run in GT250 and GT150 respectively until there are enough to run their own class.
TYRES The tyre choice for this season for Nippon runners remains as before any blue book listed Toyo/Silverstone/Federal, and I am assured there will be some Federal tyres in 2010 to use. For Subaru Cup the same choice no longer restricted to Silverstone’s. The Mr2 series will remain on the control tyre. However we are looking to bring in a more durable compound during the season ,when we have a time scale for delivery we will decide how and when it will be introduced. Mr2 Turbo/Junior Gt will have a dedicated Tyre which will be advised shortly. ALL tyres used in any Red Dragon series must be bought from Service & Sport or the Red Dragon Club only.
ALL series need to run a designated sun strip. Im sorry if you want to use that for own sponsors, but its needed to promote us/or any affiliated sponsors, to the benefit of all.
Subaru Cup /MR2 Turbo Cup/Junior Gt racing as they state, Nippon a colour coded Nippon Challenge sun strip and the Mr2 Racing series a Silverstone one. Other additional stickers may be applicable for body work. Eg Banzai for Subaru Cup cars.
ENTRY FEES We have maintained the entry fees for our events at £250 for three seasons despite the circuit fees going up year on year, and even this year for example Mallory has gone up £1500 over last per double header. I suspect due to the BARC now running it. So reluctantly though club membership and reg fees remain the same at £50 and £125 the race entry fees will be going up to £270 from £250. The costs of doing a second batch of races from another series at the same venue remains at £125
A discount of 10% will be offered to any one paying for four or more events prior to the first race meeting.
Track Day/Launch Day. This is the third year we have run this event , but the first time on our own as a club. Its an opportunity to run your cars, meet other competitors, give you friends and sponsors a ride or drive, or they can as at any conventional trcak day run their own cars also. There are hopefully a couple of “special” 500bhp plus cars coming along you can frighten your granny in to. An ARDS instructor will be available, Service & Sport with tyre advice also. As per normal as well as track time and garages , a hot lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please lets make this a big success. If you are on any club forums , particularly jap car ones spread the word.
